Another Shortening Of The Steering Column
Just did a test fit of my modified Van Tilt...I followed Putters instructions. I am sure it has given me at least 2.5" to 3" of room over the stock location. I am 6'3 so I need all the help I can get for room. Again, it is only a test fit so please disregard the old instrument panel - I needed it for reference.
I am very pleased as to how the van tilt turned out. I took it completely apart, did the neccessary modifications to make it fit in the truck, cleaned all of the bearings, replaced the tilt sphere and lubed it all down with Mobile One Bearing grease before painting and re-assembling it. I am awaiting the Gear Indicator and Chrome Housing for the tilt to be finished, then many more hours of painting and assembly to put her back together. Mike ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Another Shortening Of The Steering Column
Hmmmm, all i learned is that Putter has a target tat.
That's kinda disturbing IMO. Seems some one was telling me I was full of doo-doo when i mentioned that I slit my tilt column forward. I think, if I remember correctly, I was called dilusional and a tard. ![]() I just wish i could remember who it was. |

![]() I took GREAT care to ensure that I did not forget either rubber gasket...That is until I realized that I forgot the lower holding/mounting/whatever metal ring for the lower firewall seal. There was NO WAY I was going to dissassemble the column again. I took out my dremel and cut it in two, carefully wrapped my column to prevent slag burns, and rewelded the ring on the column ![]() Learn by trial and error...as long as the errors aren't catastrophic ![]() Mike |

Re: Another Shortening Of The Steering Column
Tell me what you guys think...Should I stick with the black steering wheel adapter, or go with this billet one?

Re: Another Shortening Of The Steering Column
I like the billet one. The steering wheel I have to put in the 69 also has the black adapter and I hate the look of it.

BILLET. And YES.... Big.Mike....that is the actual Putter (tatoo sold seperately...must be legal resident 18 years or older...void where prohibited)
Glad those instructions were useful. And that color is freakin' AWESOME!

Re: Another Shortening Of The Steering Column
If you go back up to the top and re-read thru it, there is a link to the instruction sheet...and it does not have to be a tilt.
