Ive got acess to a few old 283's laying around... all are two bbls, mostly complete, from appx 58-68 vintage... if im looking for the best to build ( iknow for a 350 a 010 block, etc.) for a little performance, but mostly to bolt in front of a A833 four speed/od for reliability and fuel economy (im getting alomost 20 mpg out of a 305/2004r) but it would be fun to go back to rowing the gears!!!... any suggestions for the old 283??? OHHHHH and how do i tell difference externally tween a 327 and 283??? thanks for all the help!!!!

Re: what 283???
Good question Same block casting numbers were used on both.Should be a number stamped on the right front of the block where the head meets. This number may tell the difference. Sometimes there was decals on the valve covers that indicated cid. NOT 100% true identification either. Good luck
