What did you get done?

I have been in Atlanta all week watching my daughters team play volleyball. They went to compete at the Junior Olympic Nationals. They didn't do as well as we had hoped for, but did have a very respectable finish. They placed 11th out of the top 48 teams in their age division.

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done?

I got the A/C working in the 79, I didn't do it myself. Local Shop did $20 + 2 Lbs of R12 Came to ~$70. Finally nice and cold. Shop said it has a really small leak by the compressor, not worth worrying about, just bring it back if it runs out in a year or so.

The 81 I found in the woods got hauled to the Yard thursday. I went down Saturday Got the tilt column, cruise control, Dash Bezel, Delay Wipers and miscellanous stuff, $0. The deal was they pickup the truck, I take what I wanted they get the rest.

Re: What did you get done?

Saturday, I visited the shop & checked out the progress on several vehicles that are in the works. We're heading to GoodGuys-Columbus next week so I got some updates on the when/where BS.

I sand-blasted a couple of brackets for the 68's engine swap that I was undecided on when I had everything else powder coated. I also swapped out that dull factory A/C Delco fuel pump for a shiny Holley unit. It's amazing how much more work is involved when you're putting something together & trying to make it look nice vs. just putting it together (you know . . .... to change one thing requires changing 6 others!). My GF & I went w/her mom to see the new Superman flick. I'm undecided.....

Today the search was on for fuel line fittings. I still haven't decided how I'm going to route the fuel supply so that's making it worse. I wound up buying several fittings for each of the various possibilities I've been considering.

I tried a few different routings & I'm not happy yet. . . ....

Re: What did you get done?

Recovered from driving alot this week for work. I had to drive almost 2 hours one way back and forth twice this week. If I had known I was having to go back the next day I would have gotten a hotel room but they didn't tell me I'm just glad their paying my travel time and mileage. It will be a nice check coming soon.

I slacked off on the blazer and need to get back on it. I also have to fix a small leak on the truck's tranny pan. Awhile back I installed a drain kit and it's leaking now. Seems like I would have been better off not installing it.

Re: What did you get done?

My buddy and me pulled of the bed to get the rest of the wiring done.
I decided to take the driversside fueltank out to make room for a LPG tank that´ll go in sometime!
There were still about two gallons of diesel in the tank, maybe i should take out the second tank too to clean it out because i think the carb and engine won´t like diesel, right?
I removed the tankselectorvalve(right word ) and crossover fuellines.
Additionally i found out that the "friend" who helped me years ago made only half things and worked bad too!The frame and cabmounts are not painted right on the underside, there were wrong bolts in some places and allmost all bolts weren´t tightend!
Wich leads us to the nice old saying:"Do it yourself and check everything at least twice!"
Also the engine and transmission leak a little oil even though we drained them 6 (six) years ago and the rearaxle sweats oil too where the tubes go in the middlesection!
I want to build an exhaustsystem and put the driveshaft back in!
But now i can fix all that and hopefully get a leakfree drivetrain!

Re: What did you get done?

Better late then never.

I fixed the brake lights, figured I'd make the people behind me happy. I was going to find the actual short but opted the quick way out and ran a new wire to the brake light switch. Appently there is a break somwhere between the switch and where it goes through the firewall. Ah, one day I'll pull it down and fix it right.

Re: What did you get done?

Finally got a chance to do something truck related this weekend. Unfortunately, it was to put in a new glass for my driverside window on my '03 cause someone in my apartment complex decided they wanted a new stereo.

Re: What did you get done?

I took off Monday and Wednesday...giving me a five day weekend. Saturday I had to work my second job. Sunday and Monday I spent replacing four of the six 50 year old windows in my house with new Pella windows. This involved tearing off all the old shakes on the house (new siding to follow the window installs), and furring out all the openings to fit the new windows. All in all it was pretty easy, just time consuming. Tuesday we had some family over, BBQ'd, played games, BS'd, then walked to the park and watched the fireworks. It was a good weekend to say the least.

Re: What did you get done?

Monday night I spent changing out the front brakes on my daily driver. It started producing a SERIOUS shake when the brakes were applied. Apparently it was a warped rotor since it is gone now. Next I need to realigned the frontend.

My Suburban was doing the same thing. I replaced everything, rotors, bearings, calipers, hoses, and finally installed my drop spindles.

Now my 275/60-15's are a little wide for the front, I cut one up on a big bump. Getting some smaller front tires tonight.

Good news, the front end shake is gone. Bad news, it revealed a minor shake in the rear discs. I'm sick of the rear discs, I'm going back to drums...

Re: What did you get done?

^^^^^m that is the way. drums rule. i got my body work almost done on the 85(prep for a quick sale). Went to pick up 22 foot boat on a cox super loader trailer. get 25 miles away from the spot it was in and i lost a hub and wheel on the high way. no worries cause it is a tandem axle but what a scare when some one pulls right up to you and teells you that the wheel is gone. pos cotter pin broke. cost me 200 for a new hub and 13 inch wheel now i gotta find a 1 inch crown nut. Maybe Napa can help me. so when i get the pos home i will shoot some shots for you guys and gals. it was a free bee but is coasting me 200 now with the loss of the wheel and all. Plus it needs some work to say the least. Well thats that. also took my bike in to get inspected by a mechanic befor it is all said and done. just so i can be sure i did things right.
