Unhappy Am I in over my head???

I have a 68 long fleetside and have been kicking around motor swaps in my head for some time now. Was looking for a V8/auto combo as I currently run a 250 I-6 and a 4 speed. Came across an absolutely smoking deal on a 1996 Caprice 9C1 LT1 motor and tranny that I got last thursday. Problem is that I have no idea where to start when it comes to the wiring harness? I can get the motor in, I can fab up a cross arm for the 4L60E, other than this I am lost. I have no harness expertise, I wouldn't know the first thing about what fuel pump I need, or even the best place to run fuel lines. I think that I have met my match. I think that I can sell this swap for a profit, should I? Or should I try to stick with it? Let me know what you think if you have been here before.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience, well......that comes from bad judgment.

1968 Chevy C-10 "Longshot": Bought used from my Uncle George in 1994 and proceeding to beat the hell out of it for 4 years. Sold it. Bought it back, dumped an ungodly amount of money into it since then.

I believe Shifty is doing this swap in his truck and if he dosen't see this and chime in maybe you can PM him and see what he's done.

Go for it. I hope you got the brain box that controls everything. Did you buy the whole car or just the engine and trans. It may take a little time but it will be worth it when it's finished.

Re: Am I in over my head???

The guy who pulled it yanked EVERYTHING! I got a huge mess of parts sitting on a pallet to include the computer, 3 different harnesses, airbag computer, cruise control computer, radiator w/fans, PS pump, AC compressor, 140 amp alternator, new water pump, and all of the green silicon hoses. Oh, and the 4L60E tranny is still attached. This is quite overwhelming since I am not too familiar with the late model stuff... I am trying to think it through, but we will see. I have a SB 400 and TH400 in the garage now, got a decision to make I guess. Does Shifty have a post or log that he updates occasionally?
