need a tach suggestion... any pics??
I would really like to add a tach to my '89 suburban 1/2ton 2wd that has the 2 big guages (mph and fuel) and 3 smaller ones (on the 4 cluster) (voltage, oil pressure, and something... can't remember... plus I added a tranny temp in there on the 4th opening).
Does anybody have pics on where they put theirs?? I don't suppose there is an aftermarket tach that fits in the big hole that also has the gas guage in there, huh??? |

www.73-87.com has a whole write up on doing aftermarket gauges on stock dash, or you could do like me and get a sun pro II take and hose clamp it to the column.

Re: need a tach suggestion... any pics??
aggiedave, Oreillys and Autozone as well as most parts houses sell GT grants..
I dont believe I have a pic, but my tach is the larger style, it is mounted just infront of the joint for the tilt column, I dont adjust my tilt so I dont have any problems there. The tach blocks just a bit of the gas gauge, mostly just the check engine light and my gear indicator, but it doesnt work and I can feel what gear I am in anyways.

Re: need a tach suggestion... any pics??
Quote:
The tach was a Kragen (Shucks, Checker elsewhere) sale item I got a year ago for $25.00. Might be Sun Pro. I've had these before and they can be made to fit in the "Idiot light" spot - lower left of dash - where clock would go. I can see the Tach, Speedo & Gas real well. Will be better once I install my tilt column!! The Grant wheel is available for about $50 plus install kit ($18) From any major parts chain. I do like it!! I'm 6' 3" and "twohundredandtoomany" pounds. I fit well behind it, whereas the stock steering wheels are a tight squeeze. - Dave
