67 Motorhome

I have a 67 C30 motorhome and I'm curious how many of these are out there.I have never personally seen another one. I have seen the Bread and Milk trucks, but never a Motorhome. My chassis was built at the Baltimore Assembly Plant but I have no idea who did the rest of it. I'm curious what companies built these. Mine has a C30 front clip but from the fenders back it is a motorhome. It has a 283, 4 spd. and a very low rear gear. Top speed is only about 65 mph. Haven't gotten as far as checking the ratio yet. I really enjoy it and it draws more attention than a brand new Class A motorhome everywhere I take it. Rescued it from a friends Junkyard for $500. Man, what a great buy. Any info anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Howard

Hi Howard,Welcome to the board from...MD.I`m in Mt.Airy.So yours is a cowl & chassis camper. Is it single rear wheels? Can you post some pictures?I`ve seen very few like yours.I believe I only have pictures of one like that saved.I believe GM stopped offering the truck-based cowl & chassis by`70 or earlier to make way for the new van-types.Here`s a box van like that which is in northern Carroll County:

Re: 67 Motorhome

The GM part of your truck is a cowl/chassis truck
Post (or PM) the first 1/2 of the VIN, first 6 digits, and I can tell you how many were built.
There is no tellin how many were turned into motor homes, or bank trucks, or whatever else they did with these.

Re: 67 Motorhome

I missed it by one... 69 was the last year they were made.

Hey dogdaddydbtg, if you can find the model number, that would make it way easier too. It'll be on the SPID label, or option sheet. On the trucks, it was on the glove box door, bu tI have no clue where to find it on that kind of rig... unless it has the truck dash board in it.

Re: 67 Motorhome

Vin is CE327B123128. It does have the truck dashboard or at least the face of it, but unfortunately the glove box door is gone. By the way Special K, the green truck is located just a stones throw from where I work in Melrose, MD. I know the truck has a 283, left hand reverse 4-spd. and pumpkin type rear (appearantly Eaton ho72 from what i have been told), very low geared. I would guess the 5.14 gear by the way it drives. Haven't pulled the cover yet to check. I will post pics as soon as i can find the digital camera.

Re: 67 Motorhome

Well, I looked in my books, and as far as model numbers go, you have a CE31012, however, my books skip that model number in the production number section.
Sorry man

Re: 67 Motorhome

That's what makes it cool is because it's wierd looking. This thing gets more attention than a Class A with a diesel pusher. And I'm sure some of the looks are people who think it's a piece of crap, but hey, I like it. By the way, mine is dual rear wheel. That pic of the GMC is very similiar to mine.
