Rock sliders

Has anyone cut off their rockers and put in rock sliders???
I am trying to decide if I want to do it or not. The questions are:

how much did you cut off?
What did you do with the cab corners, and floor supports?
How thick of steel do I need to use?

this is the look I am going for. I dont need rockers. If I do it this way then there is less of an edge for things to catch on.
