Cruise questions ?????

Just got my 86 up and running. I'm trying to get the cruise to work and it doesn't seem to engage. everything is hooked up correctly. I only have a question about the light blue wire from the brake light switch. I unplugged the factory TCC wiring and cut the light blue wire that goes to the brake switch. In my manual I see there is a light blue wire that goes to the cruise actuator. I believe these wires are in the same circuit? I will do the diagnosis in the book but I can't find anymore info on the light blue wire. Any help I'm gonna go check it for voltage.

Re: Cruise questions ?????

Did you check the vacuum switch that is activated by the brake pedal? If it is not making up properly, it will not let the cruise activate. Reach up under the dash and pull the switch towards the brake pedal untill it stops moving and then go out and drive the truck. It can slip in the spring clip easily, at times.

Re: Cruise questions ?????

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. Still have to do the checks according to the book. There is no voltage off that blue wire, maybe MV but I could have been touching the wire. Checked for continuity didn't get anything either off the lt. blue wire. I really want this to work.

Re: Cruise questions ?????

Well, I broke down and read the manual. I checked voltage @ the vac. brake switch and voltage @ the cruise unit. Both were good. checked the turnsignal lever switches. I couldn't get continuity through the set button. $20 bucks and another ebay buy later and I have cruise again . I love it when everything works like it should. Thanks for everyones input.
