Is GVW the same?

Is the GVW for a short bed the same as a long bed? And what is it for both regardless?

thanks

Man,that`s good question. If I ever knew the answer,I forgot it,lol. It prolly is less since the truck weighs less,a bit.BTW,is the truck in your avatar the one in your signature? What I`m gettin`at is,I was wondering if this is what you wound up buying.I remember you were looking at some nice trucks. And,I really wish I coulda bought your red one.

Re: Is GVW the same?

Actually I had this truck at the time I was looking at a 71. I went to look at it and it was nice but not nice enough for the price. Still hoping to come across a 71-72 SWB 4x4 Cheyenne Super some time in the future.

That`s right, this has been your avatar all along.I remember the truck you were looking at,it wasn`t authentic or something. That would be a perfect pair having a 2wd & 4wd short Fleetsides, like a certain member in GA.I won`t mention any names, but his initials are SeeTen.

Re: Is GVW the same?

Chev Service Manual 1971 :-- 115" WB = 4400 GVW
127" WB = 4800 GVW
127" WB = 5400 GVW (RPO G50)

RPO G50 = Heavy Duty Springs
My GMC 1/2T 127" WB with rear leaf springs shows 5400 GVW on the door jamb vin plate.
