Anyone installed a third brake light above the window?

I have a couple of ideas about a third brake light. One is a Ron Francis LED unit that mounts from the inside, through the dome light hole. The opening cut on the outside is about 3/4" x 10"-12". A last resort would be something mounted on the outside, on the surface.

Anyone done anything sort hidden like the Ron Francis piece?

Installed one similar to this inside off the two cargo switch screws:

Re: Anyone installed a third brake light above the window?

OK, I did find the one I want. A retangular hole is cut in the back of the cab, and this is welded in place. The light inserts into the frame from inside the cab through the dome light hole.

Re: Anyone installed a third brake light above the window?

What about using the third brake light from the 92-97ish cadillac seville. The long led that goes across the deck lid would look slick above or below the rear window mounted flush. Or possibly even in the tailgate. Any one ever seen it done this way?

Subtle, small, unobtrusive, but big enough for the job at hand!

I think that Caddy light would be just waaaay to huge.... tht thing would run from door to door almost!

I have the Line of Fire light bar but haven't mounted it yet. It will be installed below my tailgate on the end of the bed. I like it!

Thought of that, but I wanted something sublte, something unobtrusive, almost not seen until needed to be seen.

Re: Anyone installed a third brake light above the window?

Line of Fire light bar? Where can I get the info on this item? As far as the caddy light goes, I have not taken any measurements on that one. I am deployed O/S for another month. Been sitting out here thinking of all the things I want to do to my 69swb. I have become addicted to this site and find myself checking it every chance I get. You guys ROCK!!!

there was an f100 in a recent truck mag that had the cad light across the back of the cab. it looked really good, seemed like it was made to fit the contour of the cab.

the truck was blue, and i think it was owned by the owners of ididit.

Thats the easiest and looks good in my opinion also Its getting hard to find them cause they are always gone at pick u parts. They make a reproduction one made in india. they Run about $50.00 retail pretty decent quality but not as good as GM. Dealers have them at a high price. I have one one my 65 c10. I like it cause it came off a truck and its a easy to put on.

Please explain how you mounted a 67-72 cargo light to the rear of a 65 cab?

The contour of the two different models is no where close to the same.

Re: Anyone installed a third brake light above the window?

I used an LED light from GearHead industries. It came with a lightbar and a piece of acrylic. I had to cut a 1/4 slot in my cab. Then I glued the acrylic in from the back side. Next I sanded the acrylic down until it was flush with the cab (it was in primer). Then you mask the acrylic off, shoot your base color. Pull the tape off, and clear entire truck. You can't feel it if you run your fingers across it, and you can hardly see it until you hit your brakes. With brakes on the LED's are VERY bright. Just one more way to do it.
