pic request: chrome glove box w/woodgrain?
tinkering with the idea for my '72 cheyenne. i currently have the woodgrain trim on the dash cluster and glove box (not original, i know, but i really like it.)
i was thinking, since the dash cluster has the chrome around the edges and gauges, it would make sense if the glove box mirrored that design, instead of being painted the same as the rest of the dash. so, i was thinking of picking up a chrome door and applying the woodgrain to it (i wouldn't want to see the whole door in chrome, just the edges.) it's not quite the same as the cheyenne super woodgrain w/chrome, but maybe better? what do you think? anyone else done it? $100 is kinda steep to try out an idea.

Re: pic request: chrome glove box w/woodgrain?
I have one,but need to get a USB cable.I can`t find mine.It looks right, the way the factory shoulda done it.I have another glovebox door I had chromed that I want to paint to match the black textured bezel.Either that,or paint blue to match the dash on my GMC.I guess I need another chrome door.
BTW,don`t forget the ashtray.

Re: pic request: chrome glove box w/woodgrain?
I did mine with a black glove box door with chrome edges, and it looks way killer. I now have a chrome ashtray that I still need to paint...but it's getting the same treatment.

Re: pic request: chrome glove box w/woodgrain?
actually, it is something you probably won't be able to get too easily. It's industrial spray paint made by VIP. (Valley Industrial Products) I've done web searches in the past and came up empty handed.
This paint is some good stuff, a high solids mixture. The only draw back is that it lays down a little too thick for this particular aplication. I would recomend the Testors spray paint, there high gloss. It goes on real thin and has a very deep shine to it. |

Re: pic request: chrome glove box w/woodgrain?
mine is a chrome glove box door with a black vinyl decal. the ashtray is also chrome with a matching vinyl decal. pictures didnt take very well, but the cluster, ashtray and glove box look great and really make the interior stand out. i got the black vinyl decals and chrome parts from the "Cheyenne Super man" out of Abilene, TX. He also has the woodgrain decals.
