I need to install an aftermarket sensor but am keeping the stock one in the head. Good location on the SBC where to install?

What are you using it for? Fan? gauge?
Another plug in the head (or other head) is an option. Or the intake manifold.

Keep in mind, If you put the sensor in the head, it will read about 10 degrees F higher than if you put it in the intake. That's why I ask what it's for. For example, if you want an electric fan to come on a little sooner, put it in the head, I little later, the intake...etc.

Some may disagree with this, but I put my after market sensor in the bottom of the radiator where the drain is.

70GMCer -- What's the point in putting it in the bottom of the radiator? That's where the coolant is the coolest. So there is really no point in that.

For an aftermarket gauge. Guess I'll use the head location or maybe the thermostat housing plug.
