700r4 and shift kits

Someone told me once not toput a shift kit in a 700r4. Says that it can mess up the over drive. Is there any truth to this?

Thanks

Re: 700r4 and shift kits

I ran mine for over 6 years including some rugged off roading and never had any problems. Maybe something was wrong with the kit. I do not know the type of kit that was installed, my friend that rebuilt the tranny installed it. I guess it is like any part you get some times you get a bad one.

I have never seen an automatic trans grenaded like that before! Definately a hard part failure or other cause. A properly installed shift kit, in an otherwise good transmission will help the trans. last longer.

Re: 700r4 and shift kits

I have a stage 1 shift kit and a corvette servo in my 700r4 and I am not having any troubles. I am running about 300 hp.

I like this explanation about shift kits in the 700r4.
