My harmonic damper has come apart!
yesterday i went to adjust the timing on
my 74 cheyenne when i couldnt figure out why my timing mark was so far off until i had a closer look and discovered that the outer and inner damper had seperated. Has this ever happened to anyone else here? ------------------

none other are externally balanced liek the 454 is, except for small lbock 400, but i dont think balancers share, i know where I might be able to get one off an old guy around the corner who runs a little paint shop in his beat up garage, lemme know if you cant find anything soon. i need to run by there anyways, see if he has my old 78 350 engine still from the big 10 i had, i need heads better than what i got now.
good luck ------------------ Randy- Lincoln, IL randy@ccaonline.com 2177353230 -71 C-10 350/CH465/3.07, assemble it, yeah right, that'll happen in this world,(not) -84 Z28 Camaro 5.0L 700R4, 3.73, beater, paid way too much for it like an idiot,, -84 Firebird SE 2.8L T-5, rod knocking, dammit,, -82 Firebird 350 4bolt (TBL)/TH350, not running, dammit... buy/sell/hoard/trade most any GM vehicle parts of any kind -parting out: '81 Cutlass Supreme Brougham *Paint is overrated © RSS Enterprises 2000 |

Your balancer is weighted in one spot, the 454 is external balance,as is the 400 sb. The balancers wont interchange between the 400,& the 454 though. ......69

I had that happen to me once. 1969 K20 4x4. I went to the dealership to get a balancer, and they wanted about $100. Went to Autozone, same part #, about $60.
