Unhappy New Radiator. No HRL?

This may be a stupid question, but I'd rather ask then go through another mail order return for nothing. Just got my new radiator in. Problem is it doesn't have the Heater Return Line outlet for the heater hose.

Am I correct in thinking I can just run the hose that use to go from heater coil to radiator into my extra outlet on water pump? Would this be an acceptable alternative flow direction for this hose, or should I return the radiator and get one with a HRL? Thanks

Ive never seen a stock radiator on 67-72s with a heater hose to radiator, but the 73 ups do,put in water pump, and should be a fitting on intake.

Desert Rat is on. Sounds like somebody had swapped a boneyard rad into your truck. Put the "in" hose to the water pump and the "out" hose to the intake.

My original water pump does have a plug in it, but I wasn't 100% sure that was the way to go. Thanks for the posts.

All of my trucks with automatics have the 3/4" heater hose connecting to the radiator. You will be just fine by adding the correct fitting to your water pump. The one just above the radiator hose inlet is the normal connection point then, not the one straight out the top of the water pump.

The correct rad has the 3/4 hose that clamps to it. I doubt that you will find an aftermarket rad that set up that way.
