Anyone ever install rear A/C

I'm thinking about installing rear ac in my suburban but it looks like a lot of work. I found 2 suburbans at a local junk yard and they both had all of the rear ac/heater stuff. I'm temted to go buy all of the stuff for a future project so if any one has ever done this I'd like to know how it went. We've had tempetures in the 110 degrees and I have kids so this might be a nessesary project for me.

Re: Anyone ever install rear A/C

Th 71 and 70 have a tunnel from the back to the front, with a switch the driver can reach overhead. ( VERY COOL )
It's not roo bad.
The two a/c lines are high grade heater hose that run down by the rear door or harch and gate.
You'll see when you take it apart.
Get as much of the system as you can ( Brackets, Tees, Wiring).
You will need it.
CAUTION !!!
THE COVER CAN BE VERY FRAGILE !!!
But it will be worth it!
GOOD LUCK

Re: Anyone ever install rear A/C

the cover in my '89 suburban (stock) was cracked and I had to buy a new one (upper and lower housing) for $100 from the dealer... very brittle.

The suburbans I saw at the junk yard didn't have the ac compressor, or the lines that were bolted to the ac compressor. Are they different than the hoses of a non rear ac. If anyone can take pictures of their ac compressor and line that come off of it, and were they meet up with the ac dryer, that would help me out.
