How low can you go... without bags.
How low can you go without being bagged, and not having problems with speed bumps and what not? My old 68 was dropped pretty low. Cut front springs and heated the rear springs so I'm not sure how low it got. We just did it till it looked right. But the crossmember was within a few inches of the ground.
I guess basically I'm asking the guys with like 4 - 6 lowering kits if they have problems.

As far as I know 4-6 is the max without bags. I have a 4-5 and haven't hit anything yet...But I don't haul anything either.

hehehe
well it depends on your suspension components. in the front you can a lowering controlle arm, lowering springs, and a drop spindle. this should drop the fron at least 5-6 inches depending on the items and there "lowering abilities". On the rear you just got to get a lowering spring a drop in a lowering block with a c-notch cause anything with more then a 6 inch drop in the rear will need a c-notch.
edit:somehow i got off track with your "subject" question. i got a 4/6 and i dont hit much unless i'm speeding over speed bumps. But i am going to lower the rear about 1/2" to 1" so i can level out the truck a little bit more. but 4/6 does fine in the streets. if you have a manuel trans that might it the ground more then your exhaust pipes that hang below the frame. mines dropped 5-5.5" in front with hacked coils.
its pretty much as low as you can go, the truck doesnt scrape while driving but its so low that cambers a problem (upper arm has a ish load of shims on it and it still not perfect) and i drag the headers on pretty much all speed bumps |

Eh, Hem. May I correct you all. You can go lower than a 4-6 WITHOUT bags. I didn't have a problem with speed bumps. .....But then again, you guys may want to acually drive yours. Sorry, I just had to post this reply <--------- That thing is awesome!

I'm lowered about 4 1/2" in front and 5 3/4" in the rear and rarely scrape. If I do, it's always my mufflers, which are just forward of my trans xmember. I read somewhere (an airbag company catalog, I think) that 4 1/2 inches of ground clearance at the center of a vehicle is suitable for everyday driving, and I have 4" because of my mufflers, so I suppose that statement is fairly accurate.

Mine is lowered 5.5 in the front with the Doetch Tech Drop Shocks,, I have bottomed out a couple of times but it's not bad at all. Just watch those speed bumps and dips
