Re: zz3 engine
I don't know how to tell if it's a zz3 but you can probably find info on it and maybe identifiers thru Scoggin-Dickey Chevrolet Performance. They have a website but I just got a new comp and don't have it on here. You can probably find it thru search.

Re: zz3 engine
I think you mean ZZ4. It's a Chevy crate motor...350 hp if I am not mistaken.

Re: zz3 engine
No, he means ZZ3. This was the predecessor to the ZZ4.
The ZZ3 was a 345 horsepower "High Output" GM crate motor. The ZZ3 has aluminum heads, aluminum intake manifold, high lift roller cam, forged steel crank, 4-bolt mains, "pink rods", and hypereutectic pistons with a compression ratio of nearly 10:1.

Re: zz3 engine
I stand corrected....not much of a crate guy. Bought a 350 HP Vortec roller once...paid over $2800 for it. Installed it in my 86 MCSS and it wouldn't even keep up with my old school 325 hp El Camino. Should have smoked it with a 3.73 rear axle [the Elky had a 3.08]. I lived and learned on that one.

Re: zz3 engine
And with the addition of GM's "HOT CAM KIT" (the Corvette LT4 cam), it will give you @ 395 hp and 410 lb/ft of torq. Every day streetable power and good vacuum. If you look front of the block, the ID pad is marked with a
"ZZ3". |
