71 cab with roof lights

I bought a parts truck and it has this cab on it. Are these cabs unusual to find and are they very desirable ????

Re: 71 cab with roof lights

The style on your 71 can be purchased ar NAPA, with the exact same markings and all. They were run from 71 to 93. So, in that aspect, no, they are not uncommon.
however, on a 1/2 ton rog, they are pretty uncommon, but not many ppl actually like them. Most actually cut that section of roof off and do away with them all together.

Re: 71 cab with roof lights

I like them too...i added them on my rig, then i located some clear ones that fit perfect and look very close in size and shape to the hockey puck style that was only on the 69/70 trucks.

Re: 71 cab with roof lights

It looks as though they have the raised pedestal that the light assembly sits on. If that's the case, it has to be very unusual ineed on a 1/2 ton. Does the glove box option sheet list roof or cab lights ? I suppose it was possible to get them ordered that way but it has got to be unique. The light assemblys are available at any good parts store for about 10 dollars . They are Truck-Lite/Signal-Stat # 1313-A for the whole assembly or 9069 for the lense alone. OR , you can still get them from GM for about 21.00. The Signal-Stat lenses are EXACTLY like the originals right down to the markings. Hope this helps, Dean

Re: 71 cab with roof lights

Very weird to see 'em on a 1/2 ton! These are more common on farm trucks and trucks that hauled campers.

Re: 71 cab with roof lights

Yes,they are unusual on 1/2 and 3/4t trucks.Especially since it required a special unique roof panel.I think the look awesome on a 4wd.I ran over 400 miles to buy one, then back.A low-humpcab w/cablights is pretty rare.

Re: 71 cab with roof lights

I have a 70, and a 71. Both 1/2 ton, both 4x4, both have the raised roof for the cab lights. They both have the same style light too. (not hockey puck) Not too unusual up here...

Re: 71 cab with roof lights

I know several people that have cut the roof and added them but no one that has cut the roof and removed them. Joesjunk added them to his truck and it is a beautiful addition. I will have lights on all my trucks.

Re: 71 cab with roof lights

When i get a new cab for my rig, it'll either have them, or get the panel welded in. I too love them.
Too much stuff, the ones you describe have been considered (at least by the books) a correct replacement for the 69/70 hockey puck style. So the one you had had probably had them all replaced just to match after one broke.
The ones in the background in this pic, these are the correct ones for the 69/70 trucks.
