adjust it at the carb, have assistant floor gas pedal all the way down and you grab end of the cable at the carb and pull it all the way out and let it snap back thne let go of gas pedal, on later models vehicles they have a lock butto that you have to depress and it allows the sheathing to slide, on tem you have someone depress pedal all the way and before that you depress the locking button and pull sheathing forward toawrds frot of car and then when pedal is floored you keep button depressed and pull sheathing back all the way as far back as it will go and then let go of button and make sure it locks the sheathing in place and then let go of pedal, and thats it,. i just did this to the cable on the 84 Z28 tonight, made a differnce in shifting, alot better now and safer for the 700r4, rthe 2-3 upshift was getting spongy bad, all better now it seems, plus i added some brake fluid to it to help it along, so far so good

good luck

don't believe i've seen a "button" to depress. must be an older th350.and,uh..duhh,yup!,yup!....(might be a stupid question.) does the motor need to be runnin',which would be givin' it the vacuum,or is the vacuum needed at this point to set the cable?

To adjust your kick-down cable for a TH350 have the engine OFF. On the cable, right behind where it mounts to the intake there is a clip or gate that you lift up. Lift up the gate, move the throttle on the carb to full throttle, then push the gate down.

Kick-down cable adjusted.

I just did this to my new Th350. I spent more time going to the hardware store and buying a clip that works than I spent adjusting it.

make sure cabvle is tight and not slacked before letting go of clip,
and also the idea is to not have the cable be pulled all the way out before the throttle blades are at WOT

if it wasnt adjusted correctly before and you succeed in setting it now then you should notice a difference in tranny performance, i ave noticed, today so far

that would suck if somone tried to do that with engine running, would cause a few minor problems, lol....

good luck
