How much oil?
I replaced the complete A/C system except the condenser on my 77 in March. The compressor went south and I am going to do it again . I hope someone has a spec book that tells how much refrigerant oil to use in each component and what the entire system holds . I would like to know . I added the amount of oil that the parts store suggested last time and it either wasnt enough or the compressor was just junk .Pick one , but I would like to know what you guys suggest . Also , is the $20 variable orrifice tube worth the money in a R134 converted system or will the $2 OT work just fine ? Thanks. Frank

Re: How much oil?
The parts store remans ARE junk...
I went with a brand new Delphi for about $225 with clutch. It has lasted 2 summers, so I figure I broke even at the very least. I would see if a new replacement is available for yours, or consider converting to a Sanden with an Alan Grove bracket if it isn't. That's my plan for next time, but I hope it is a long way off. BTW, I would flush the entire system if you find any stuff in the OT. I might just do it anyway, especially if you decide to go with a good compressor. Slonaker |

Re: How much oil?
If you convert, use a 99-up Cavalier oriface tube. It is supposed to be less restrictive.
