Custom off-set wheels
Had the 69 SWB on Craigs list, it almost sold but not quite. Looks like I'll keep her for a few more years.
I need wheels and tires real bad. I decided to go with American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels size 17X8's and 17X9.5's. Tires will be Toyo Proses ST's 285/60VR17's and255X60VR 17's. This is almost the exact combo that Copperhead has. Problem is the offset, I need 4.5 so I have to go custom, this means more money and a long wait. Cost will be a little under (I hope) 2K. Any better ideas?

Re: Custom off-set wheels
Why not go with 8's on the rear and 7's on the front? Cost might even be less.

Re: Custom off-set wheels
Are you needing 4.5" of BS on the front and back or just one or the other? I have 17x8 with 4" BS on the front and 17x9.5 with 4.75" BS on the rear. I could of got away with 5" of BS out back but I figured better safe than sorry. And yes they were custom offset wheels and took about 5 weeks to get here. They told me that if it was in car show season the wait would have been longer. Is your tire selection dictating the offset or the size wheel. Would a different size tire do what you want? Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and pay the man for what you feel like you have got to have. Check out www.newstalgiawheel.com I found them to be quite helpful.

Re: Custom off-set wheels
I had 17x7 (4"bs) front with 255/60/17 tires and 17x9.5 (5.5"bs) with 275/60/17 on the rear before I switched back to 15's on my 68. The rears rubbed the inside of the bedsides. i used an adjustable panhard bar and still had to run a spacer on one rear wheel. The fronts had no problem. Copperhead runs a 4" bs on the front wheels also.
