Where to get Heads

Looking a place here locally east of Raleigh, NC where I can pick up a decent set of heads reasonably. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Jeremy

Re: Where to get Heads

Depends on what you want for heads. A good set of vortec heads are ususally cheap as stated above, but you have to change intake manifold design for the bolt pattern. A set of Dart II heads create good horsepower, but you have to look for specials. Then there would be people that have heads that are sitting around in their garage that may be good, but I would have them checked before buying them. I would expect a buyer to do the same to me, if I were to sell him the ones in my garage, that way we are both happy. Consider what you call reasonable, before looking, new heads run around $500 a piece and up, in most cases.

Go to a good local machine shop, that specializes in automotive. They ususally have extra sets sitting on a bench somewhere, that another guy ordered and decided to not use or could not finish the project.
