Re: Think I`ll build a Bs-out 4wheeler
Are those from the military 1 ton trucks? If so they are geared low enough to pull down a house! We use to drive them and your pushing the RPM's to go 55 on the highway! We had diesels which were loud anyway though...nice start.

Re: Think I`ll build a Bs-out 4wheeler
I might just go with diesel, too.I was looking at trail-built Blazers and it got me thinking, since this one will need alot of rust repair.I bought it and haven`t gotten it yet.I will decide once I look it over.It is very original, though.Yet not all that special.I dunno,I guess it is kinda special.

Re: Think I`ll build a Bs-out 4wheeler
Guess what?I already changed my mind.More fickle than a hypoglycemic blonde in a room fulla bodybuilders. It`s just that I was checkin`out Blazers andI have two.I wasn`t going to restore either one,to much to do.I`d rather build the Xtreme trail rig topless and short. Also,I found a new route for this truck.I`m planning to take stuff from my`91 Suburban 3/4t and use it on my`90 Blazer:4.10axles,4L80E/NP241,4" EZ-Rides,35"MTRs/black steel wheels.I ordered a soft top. This will be my driver and trip rig.I have new 33"BFG ATs on 10" finned aluminum wheels and Auburn Gear in rear off the Blazer.I`ll take the axles(3.08)/wheels/tires and put them under this truck.I have a parts Blazer w/700r4/NP208 to complete the swapping for this truck. It`ll make a nice runabout. This leaves the 4spd/NP241 from the Blazer for the`72 Blazer trail rig,and those 4.56 1t axles.Maybe I`ll use the NP 241 in the p/u behind the 700r4.Then use the NP208 with a NP205 and doubler kit.

Re: Think I`ll build a Bs-out 4wheeler
Okay, so where's it at now...? (build decisions)
Good idea on the off road blazer build, everybody should have one. Didn't realize you had a 72 blazer, when did you get that? (cool) What lift and tire size are you going for? I could bring those 37" SSR's with me when I drop off the swb... |

Re: Think I`ll build a Bs-out 4wheeler
I`ve had this Blazer for years. It was a trans/t-case donor to my green one. It`s been sitting and I didn`t really plan to restore,it`s gotten fairly rough. But,"DING!",I got the idea to build an ugly trail dog.I have 4.56 Locker/TruTrac D60/14-bolt axles and I think I have a 208 still.Definately have a 205 or two. It`s the yellow one:

Re: Think I`ll build a Bs-out 4wheeler
JC,I`m hoping it will be delivered next week, now.I hope I hope.
Southedisto,we all need a hero.I suggest you keep looking, though. When I get this truck,I`ll decide it`s fate. The body is rust,it would make a great surf fishing rig,eh?Prolly was by the way it`s rusted.I was planning on using good sheetmetal to build a nice driver. Then, the possibility of a better shortbed 4wd arose,so...I thought,"4wd park material"!!Which lead me around to the ol`yeller K/5 which would be perfect for that since it`s more than I`d want to restore and it`s a convoitible!!That cool factor is there. BTW,that`s an old picture.I don`t have the green`71 anymore. That was back in`85 I think. And,it WAS a GAS!!

Re: Think I`ll build a Bs-out 4wheeler
Okay the trucks been delivered and you've had time to look it over...what now?
Wheel it, drive it or part it and sell it...? So really, how's it look all and all? I bet that 6" lift would look pretty sweet under your new shorty. |

Re: Think I`ll build a Bs-out 4wheeler
I`m leaning towards scraping the body.I`ll look the cab over better, first. Then, use the so-so body off of my`72 2wd shorty,TH350/205 from a`70 Blazer I have, the 3.08s w/Auburn in rear from the`90 Blazer along with those wheels/tires,see what`s up with the motor once running(the`70 Blazer has a 350),2" soft-lift,and paint.Just a cute little buzz-around truck and if Sam wants it...His friend (Mike with the scooter) already said,"that would be a nice truck for Sam." I might even put a six in it with the 3.73s(posi rear)from the`70 Blazer.I doubt I`d do anything to restrict it`s use as a general use chore/fun/year`round truck.
Now,about the bawls-out off road machine....That`ll be a Blazer for sure, someday. No top or doors for me there.Ol`yeller`s lookin`good for that one.
