Detachable bed sides

So, I remember seeing in the LMC Catalog that the bed sides and front panel unbolt and come off of the 67-72 pickups. But after looking closer at my 72 longbed that i was thinking of cutting into a short bed, it dosent appear that it comes apart that easily or at all without the help of a saw or my plasma cutter. It is a steel floor bed. Is it just the wood floor models that the sides unbolt and come off of? Thanks for the help in advance.

Re: Detachable bed sides

The floor and the sides seem to be pretty permanently attached.

Re: Detachable bed sides

The bed sides are the same for a wood bed floor and a steel bed floor, only the front bed panel is different. The bed does come apart, I have taken apart a few of them. You will have to grind the spot welds by the tailgate on each side of the bed. Hope this helps.

Re: Detachable bed sides

all 67-72 beds come apart. There are a few spot welds that can be cut fairly easy.
