did 292 c10's get 4:11's? std
Seems like I read somewhere that 292 half tons got 4:11's std. Is that so? My old orig 67 has the glove box door sheet torn off. Is there anything else the 292 motor truck got that the 250 didn't standard?

My '68 C/10 stepside came w/292, SM465 and 3.73:1 12-bolt open differential. Also 7.00 x 17.5" tires specified on the glove box door.

You won`t find gear ratios on the VIN-spec sheet.I believe the I6/manual combos came through w/4.11s unless another ratio was specified,up or down.Everything else would be the same on a truck whether it had a 250 or 292.Only pieces that were required for that particular engine would be different, like motor mounts, etc.

My 250 with 3spd manual came stock with 4.56 gears, its not an option listed on the build sheet (of which there were only 4, so I figured that was just what all I6's came with)

Shelby, yours is a 3/4 ton, so the standard gears is a 4.56.
My books show 3.73 being standard with both inline engines. *standard includes 3 speed transmision, when you get other trannys, other gears become standard with that engine/tranny combo* Last edited by Longhorn Man; 08-24-2006 at 03:14 PM. |
