Headers/4spd

I know this comes up alot.I don`t recall a definative answer.I spent a long time in search, never found it.
I want to use full-length headers on my`72 K/20 that is a 4spd manual and 400 SBC.I`ve had to alter the z-bar before. Are there any members that have used a specific header that went right in?I think it was the Hooker Super Comps that worked, but it`s been a while and I`m foggy on it.

Re: Headers/4spd

A guy down the road from me had a 69 K20 last fall that he put headers on. I asked about them, because the headers I have dump about 2" in front of the X-member. He said that he bought headers for a 69 chevelle and then fit just fine. but I don't always believe everything he tells me...

I put the super comps in my Blazer last summer and had to modify the Z-bar. No big deal, it's a pretty easy fix.

Then of course there was the previous owner's solution to the fit problem

Re: Headers/4spd

Hah,what an idiot!! Yeah Mike, that`s what I did on one, too.I guess it`s no big deal.I was using torches to do mine and,DOAH!!,didn`t clean out the grease first. This was back in`82 right after harvest time.I have other trucks.I should just get the ones I like and see what happens.I can always use them on an auto truck.
