A/C Diverter Box Flapper

Hi, I am wandering if anyone nows of a way to repair or replace the flapper inside the A/C diverter box under the dash? I know I can buy a new box but since the only thing wrong with it is the flapper. I am surprised yhat they don't make a kit or just a replacement flapper. The flapper inside is non repairable. Any suggestions other than a replacement box would be apreciated. Thanks.

Re: A/C Diverter Box Flapper

Just take the flapper out and leave the shaft.( it works the switch that turn the AC compressor on.) The only differance will be that heat or AC will now come out all vents at one time.(mine works just fine this way)

Re: A/C Diverter Box Flapper

i just took the ac box out of a parts truck yesterday because mine was warped bad. the one o pulled had been repaired with a 3/16s rod with two fender washers ground flat on one side then welded to the rod. the washers were then drilled and bolted to the flapper then duck tate was used to seal the new homade hindge

Re: A/C Diverter Box Flapper

Thanks guys for the advice. I think I will try out jhow66 idea first. I do have one more question for jhow66, does the defroster still get enough air flow to work? Again thanks.
