What is the gear ratio?

Does anyone know what the gear ratio is on a 1968 C10 SWB stepside with 250 inline six and 3-speed manual trans.?

Re: What is the gear ratio?

Most were 3.73. I think 4.10 came in second.

Re: What is the gear ratio?

38 years ago it had a 3.73... no tellin what's there now.
I recomend popping the cover and counting the teeth. This way you can replace the oil that is old and 50% effective too.

Re: What is the gear ratio?

My grandfather bought the truck new, then my dad got it, and now I have it so I know it's still got the original parts on it. Thanks for the help.

Re: What is the gear ratio?

Have you checked the glove box door? Ours is a GMC but it's marked on the inside of the glove box door. Ours was originally a 250/I6, leaf spring, Dana 44 with 3.54's

I haven't checked yet. I'm not sure how readable the sticker is anymore though because it's dried out, cracked, and faded.
