electric window switchs
I saw some were they sold switchs for electric windows that used the same window crank handles so it still looked stock? I can not find them now.

Autoloc makes them....

hey john did you buy the electric windows for autoloc or A-1ELECTRIC. i an trying to see if the A-L electric windows will work with the autoloc electric crank. UP GRADE

The ones I saw were a direct fit for our trucks made by Specialty Power Windows. Don't know if you can still buy them or not...would have to check with a distributor if they aren't on their site.

On www.autoloc.com which kit would i need to buy to make standard windows powered. im not to savvy on all these technical jargon. So which one is good or what i need for a two door, '68 chevy stepside

John I have the same question did you buy the switches from autoloc and the window kit from some one else? I heard the motors from electriclife or a1 were the best?

Hi all, I got my switches from autoloc, and then got the 67-72 powerwindow motors from A1 (These things bolt right in with no problems!!!)
I am using the Brothers one peice window kits as well. The one piece window kit is kinda hard to do for a first timer, but I would do it again if I do another truck like this. As for the window switches, you can put them right where the old regulator goes, just need to add three holes to screw/bolt the switch to the door. Using these with the A1 power windows, you have to rotote the switch so as the window gear does not hit it. Not that big of a deal.... 68stepside4life, get the powerwindow kit from A1, other then setting up switches and wiring, it will bolt right in just like the old manual window regulator.... So John if I order the window kit from a1 and the switches from autoloc do I need to get a wiring kit or do the switches come with? Or is there a seperate wiring kit? I am not going the one piece window route.

One more question for power window guys can you wire it right off the bat? So you will always have power for window operation or is this a bad idea?

The switches come with a wiring diagram, so you just create your own wiring.
You can wire up the switches to work on one window or add in a micro switch and relay, that when you push the microswitch and your driver door window switch, it operates the passenger window. The wires from the A1 power window motor will reach the switch, you just need to run one ground wire spit into two to the switch, as well as the one power wire split into two to the switch. AS for the part number, I do not know, I talked to someone on the phone when I ordered mine, and the only thing he asked was my post spline or square (of which ours are spline)... I am using switched power for my windows, these trucks are too easy to steal as it without adding an "always on" power window... Last edited by John Fabris; 08-29-2006 at 05:11 PM. |
