power steering pump brackets

I need another steering pump for my 350 in the 69. So I need a pump and bracket for a later model engine since I am using the long water pump. My question is will the later model steering pump hoses match up with the flair and threads in the older steering sector? Sector is a 71. I would like to pickup a pump w/bracket and hoses used. I assume the pump assemblies off any 73 to 86 small block truck or cars would be the same? Is there a better deal out there? Thanks.

Re: power steering pump brackets

all you have to do is unscrew the fitting on the back of the pump and swap it to the newer pump, takes a good pull to loosen it though

Re: power steering pump brackets

My concern is over the hose end fittings. I heard somewhere along the way GM changed the fittings. Either from flair to oring or from standard thread to metric? I don't remember.

Re: power steering pump brackets

There seems to be a few differnt fittings. I tried a few differnt hoses that looked like they'd work, but didn't. I'm running a power steering bracket from a Van. It sits a bit lower than the one's made for trucks, but otherwise works good.

Re: power steering pump brackets

Like blue85 said above. Take the fitting out of your old pump & screw it into the later style pump. You can have later long w/p style pump & early short w/p style hoses.
