Soft top!

Got my soft top on last Friday! Man was that nerve racking.....I hated drilling those holes! Where can I get replacement snap screws for this set-up? I broke like 4 of them puting them in.....they arent real sturdy! What are results from all you that have done this with sealer on those screws? Best material? Any opinions on whats the best to clean the top with? Mines white...so I've got an uphill battle from here.....thanks all.....

Re: Soft top!

On the last soft top I installed I put a dab of silicone under each screw as it was put in.

The hard top fits over the windshield frame snaps, so just leave them in when/if you put the top back on.

Re: Soft top!

See an upholstery shop for the hardware. It`s true, the snaps don`t interfere with the hard-top.The glass sits outside the tip and rain can get in.I always pulled the top out over the glass when not in use.I also had a white top and it was easy to keep clean and lasted for years.Enjoy.

Patch, McLendon's and Lowe's both carry the screw in snaps (and you can buy them individually). I also bought a big bag of them from JC Whittney back when I had the '69. If you stop by my house you can have some!

As for the white, I'm fighting the same battle. I believe that STC has recommendations for cleaners in the instructions or on their web site. Let me know what you discover.

Post a picture of the completed project when you get a chance!

Re: Soft top!

Nice. Looks like a white version of the Kayline I had on my '69. The rollup sides sure were easy, much easier than the fasttrac zip of sides I have on my '72

Re: Soft top!

It is the Kayline......I got it off evil bay......original box but everything was there...not sure how long ago they stopped making them.....Got it for $250.00. Not too bad huh?? Thanks for the comments....It was still scary puting it on.....I hate drilling into Blazers.......there so prone to cancer anyway.....on a prior post...someone said silicone......does that inhibit rust ? I thought RTV in itself was slightly corrosive...am I wrong?
I was very happy to find out that it cleared my smitty built roll bar with no problem......whoo-hoo!!!!!

Re: Soft top!

Are you planning on painting the truck anytime in the near future? You might not want to use silicone or anthing else that may migrate and cause the paint not to stick or plan to strip the truck down to bare metal.

Get ready for all the questions about if you had the top custom made, especially if you are running around safarri style!

Re: Soft top!

Hey that's the same top I have on my 72, cept mine is black. So what's this roll up sides thing or safari thing that yall are talking about? Mine came with the blazer from the PO so I don't know anything about the top. How hard is it to take off/put back on? What can I do with it?

Re: Soft top!

I think u can unzip the rear gate....roll it up and fold the rear corners of the sides forward and roll those up to and secure them to the elastic snap straps...I just put mine on...so I havent rolled it up yet....should be fun!

Re: Soft top!

i'd appreciate it if you can post pics of it with the rolled up back and sides and how they're secured. I wondered what those straps were for. I think mine have had it though and they're all stretched out.

Re: Soft top!

Here's a pick of my old '69 with the sides and back rolled up safari style. It is similar to unzipping the side and rear windows in the STC Fasttrac tops, but you just undo the snaps and roll it up. There should be some straps inside the top seam so you can snap it in place.
