Re: Step or Fleet, which one should I go with? Opinions wanted?
Thanks for all the replies guys. Like I said, I love the short fleet on the 67-72 Love the short step on 62-66, and even further back. I bought my 68 short step for 300 bucks and the only reason I bought it, other than the price, was this pic at the Good Guys show in Nashville, TN a few months back. I'm jumping too quick anyway, the bed is the least of my problems, I'm starting ground up and haven't even got the frame blasted yet. Anyway, check out this pic!
EDIT: My wife also says she likes the step side better... Last edited by LeftEar55; 08-30-2006 at 04:40 PM. |

Now that is a sweet step side in that pict, I must take back my words about not liking the looks of 2wd's w/ the step bed

Make the drivers side a step & the passenger side a fleetside
Truthfully I'd go fleetside. |

Re: Step or Fleet, which one should I go with? Opinions wanted?
I like them both even though im going fleet on my first project. I say go with what the boss likes...if you can keep her excited about the project (or at least interested) then thats one less thing to worry about.

Step Side here. I have a '69 and don't get real excited about f/s. Just a matter of what you like. It's your truck, your project, build it that way. You won't be happy if you don't.

Re: Step or Fleet, which one should I go with? Opinions wanted?
For me it is either Step or STAKE
Seems like everyone and there brother has one or two things when it comes to these trucks...............#1 Fleet.......................#SBC My brother took his C-10 which was step, and bought everything new to make it a fleet..........And we have a short fleet box that is in very good shape we'll never use. Yeah, It looks ok I guess, but I miss the step on it.

Re: Step or Fleet, which one should I go with? Opinions wanted?
I think its a regional thing, It seems like people up here in the NW like the Fleetside more and back SE it seems like the Stepside is more desireable. I tend to like both of them I have a 69 Short step and I am going to have a 67 Short wide when I shorten the frame and cut down the box. I also have a 63 and 64 Shortwide and a 56 Bigwindow short step. I think as long as its a chevy I Like them. I would say thats more than 2 cents that is about 5.

I think I'm gonna stay with the step side for now and paint it the same color as my 2003 Xtreme, see below
