Gas Tanks - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I need a gas tank, and I am going with the stock in-cab tank. My original tank has been repaired, the outside is rusty, and someone had the filler neck off and soldered it back on an inch farther out than it should be (messy job, too). I looked at some of the aftermarket tanks, and it seems that some are from Taiwan, and some are from Canada. I measured exactly where the mounting holes are supposed to be, and it looks like the Taiwan tank was off A BUNCH. I doubt you could use it without re-drilling the holes. The neck was at the wrong angle, too. The Canadian tank looks real close. Anyone have any experience with these?

My recommendation is to subscribe and post a wtb on the classified board. There're enough people getting rid of the in-cab tank to ensure you can probably find one near you in great shape.

I gave my perfect shape in-cab tank away for FREE....to someone that wanted it.

I would say if you were closer, you could have mine. It's in perfect shape I won't need it in a month when I put the blazer tank in.

Bob B, I would agree with krue. Go with an original tank if you are keeping the in-cab tank. I have seen some of the re-pop's and wouldn't waste my money or the time to install one. I have a nice clean tank from a '71 complete with the sender but distance is to great. Again, become a member for the $25 fee and you have just opened a door to the best site on the 'net. LOTS of helpful people, parts, pics, ideas, help, etc. etc.
