That's the EXACT problem that I had with those vents. One side was high, and the other side was low. Neither fit correctly. That's why I had mine rechromed. Awfully expensive, but about $100 cheaper than buying repops (if you don't value your time).

I did as John did, and picked up a set of nice clean vents as spares.
