68 grill fit a 70 hood?

Will there be too much gap?

it will not fit, unless you do some major fabricating, or unless it is a GMC.

It fits, but has a "hellacious" gap. I have pictures of mine when I swapped it over, that I'll post when I get home from work

There is like a 1 1/2 inch gap because the 67-68 chevy hoods are shaped differently

Re: 68 grill fit a 70 hood?

Looking forward to seeing the pictures. Hate to drive a truck with a huge dent in the grill when I have a perfect 68 grill with all the chrome making dust and letting the hummingbirds use it for a perch!

Here's the pics... I know you can't see it TOO good since I had painted the 68 grill black before I put it on, but there is a piece of cardboard behind the grill that kinda highlights the gap. It will fit and latch if you have to do it for some reason, but looks like crap IMO.

If your entire truck is a 70, that 68 grill will not work with your fenders either.

This is true, I forgot to mention that. I'm still running my 70 fenders with a 68 hood and grill right now, because I don't want to mess up my pristine 67 front fenders before the truck goes off to paint. The front end of the 69-70 fenders that goes under the grill for those years is indented, which is why I "rattle-canned" that area to blend with the grill. I know it's but hopefully it won't be that way for too much longer.

Another thing that I think needs to be pointed out is that the radiator supports put the headlights in different positions for the 67-68 and the 69-72, so you can't use the headlight trim rings if you don't swap that out too.

Re: 68 grill fit a 70 hood?

Hmmmm I had a 68 rad support beside the 71 GMC rad support with the exception of the dual headlights I didn't notice any alignment with buckets..One thing I did think was the GMC rad support seemed alot heavier than two additional buckets for the headlights. But it could have been my imagination..I had been moving railroad ties around in the yard everything seems heavier after movin a dozen of them.

Re: 68 grill fit a 70 hood?

The GMC rad supports were the 67-68 style with the dual headlight brackets spot welded on. The 69-72 Chevy supports are the different ones. I actually used a 68 GMC rad support that I cut the spot welds off of.
