If you Z the frame do you raise the tranny xmember up the same???

Been digging through a lot of these posts and didn't find much on this question I have. I have a 74 that's getting ready to be cut! I was wondering though if you Z the frame 2.5" then do you also need the tranny mount to be moved up 2.5"? I'm pretty sure motors need to be at certain angles for oil circualtion and stuff, what are you guys all doing?

yes it does need to come up, im zed im frame 3 1/2, and im either going to build and new tranny mount or try to cut the other one to work, if u dont the motor wont sit at the right angle at all and like u said the oil wont circulate right then u know what happens BOOM

It is the water that you will have a problem with and air pockets getting traped and causing hot spots. What you want is your intake manifold where the carb bolts on to be level.

Like Kevin said, you want the carb base on the intake to be level. Set your truck up at ride height and level the motor accordingly, then modify the trans crossmember/mount as needed.

but u can start off with a lowwer engine mount, one that sits on the xmember only then i think its only a round 1 1/2 raise on the tranny.

Thanks for the input from all of you. Do you know who makes these mounts? Are they direct for the truck or custom?????

Re: If you Z the frame do you raise the tranny xmember up the same???

I JUST bought a set of these motor mounts and got them in today. And I dont think that they are too different from the stock ones. ALSO the driver mount that I got, the tube that is welded to the big pipe that the motor bolts too was angled up 3/8 of an inch more than the passenger mount. It was 5.30 ohio time and I was 30min shy of getting ahold of them. Ill post tomarrow if I had any problem getting a replacement mount. This will tell if the company is even worth dealing with.
