Best Insurance

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum. I am looking to buy a 68-72 chevy truck. This will be my daily driver. I am having some problems locating an insurance company to cover the vehicle (prob 14000 miles/ year) in texas that will give me more than cash value if in an accident.

So...to the point. Do you guys have any particular insurance company worth referring?

I am getting rid of a 2000 z28..so i am hoping my insurance wont go up too much

Re: Best Insurance

most "classic car" insurance companies wont insure a daily driver / you have to show them you have a daily driver b-4 they'll insure your truck as a classic

really the best insurance for a daily driver vehicle is a GOOD DRIVER

welcome to the board from florida

Re: Best Insurance

Welcome to the board from South Mississippi! No help on the insurance since mine's not currently worth the deductible on a full coverage policy.

Re: Best Insurance

I have Farmers and they insure my house, 2004 Dodge Van, 1968 C-10 Shortstep, 1969 C-10 shortfleet, 1970 C-20 Flatbed and 1978 Camaro. I carry just liability on all but the van and don't carry uninsured on the liability ones since the Van carries them all and I only pay about $25 a month for each truck. Don't know if that helps.

Re: Best Insurance

I talked to my insurance company today about rates and heres what they said.

Existing vehicles: 2003 Silverado (me with NO accidents or tickets ever) 2002 Camry (wife with at least 4 fender benders) full coverage with $500 deductable is right at $1,100 every 6 months. Can you say bend over?

New Vehicles: 1970 C-10 (stated $10k value) 2005 Tahoe (god i hope she doesnt hit someone) same coverage as other vehicles...$1,300 every 6 months. Pass the lube plz. But if i state the '70 having a value of $15k then its $45 more every 6 months

Take that for what its worth.

Re: Best Insurance

I don't have full coverage on my truck yet, but I'm adding it when I get it back on the road.

I pay $80 a month for my wife's car ('98 Malibu full coverage), my '69 truck and $35k of renters insurance through USAA. I love my insurance company.

Re: Best Insurance

Well there are different types of insurance.

Liability (they will cover whatever you hit) Easy to get and generally cheap.
Collision (fixes your truck when you get hit) can be expensive. Has to be on cars that have a loan on them. I use Metlife. They will insure mine...only worth 5 grand right now. If ti goes up they just inspect it and insure it.

Comprehensive (people stealing stuff out of your truck and things like that) pretty cheap.
