1972 GMC production numbers

Does anyone have the production totals for the 72 GMC model year on 1500 through 3500 series trucks? If no, does anyone know where I could go to find them?
Thanks for any help!

You'll never find them, just guestimates.
There was a fire that killed all the production numbers. (legond has it there was a fire anyways)

Re: 1972 GMC production numbers

Thanks anyway! I know a good joke about fire's but didnt want to offend anyone so I will skip that.
I have #748 produced from Janesville, WI and that was built in 8/71 and just bought #10,339 produced in St. Louis and do not have the truck with me yet so I was trying to guestimate when it was produced without seeing the door production tag.
Thanks again ya'll!

Well on the CANADIAN end of production:
GM Canada produced for domestic and export a total of 104,775 truck in 1972.
Of which 74,018 were Chevrolets.
Of which 30,757 were GMC's.

Re: 1972 GMC production numbers

Sure would be interesting to know. I still have an original valve cover from my 72 C2500 and still can barely read Aug. 1972 (didnt dig it out and look for exactly how it was worded), on the sticker so she was dammnear the end of the era.

Re: 1972 GMC production numbers

Very interesting! I wonder what the ratio of U.S. built vs. Canada built trucks is. Does someone have the Chevrolet total for U.S. built 1972 model year light duty's? I suppose it wouldnt be terribly accurate but if the same ratio's basically applied you could make a good guestimate which is what was mentioned previosly. I think I have it correct that my 72 Sierra produced in Janesville, WI in 8/71 which ends 500748 would be the 748th GMC truck assembled at that plant for that model year? If that is the case with mine being produced before the 15th of August 1971 that plant alone must have been produced several thousand GMC's that month alone.
Thanks for the input and the help!

Re: 1972 GMC production numbers

I also saw a source which said 193537 were built in the US as GMC.

193537
+ 30757
________
224294 GMC's built in 1972

Best I can assume with sources I've look for.

Re: 1972 GMC production numbers

I have a 72 GMC half ton 4x4, so I know there is at least one.
