Headers for Ramjet 350
Does anybody have any experience fitting headers on a 71 2-wheel drive with a Ramjet. The first pair I tried hit the lower control arm on one side and the Hooker Block Huggers were too close to the knock sensor mounted on the passenger side. If you guys know what fits, that'd be cool. Thanks

Re: Headers for Ramjet 350
We used Thorley 67-72 headers on ours. We had to trim down some reliefs in the tops of the frame rails on both sides; should have done the fitting with the gaskets in place, though!!! (It was a little tight and had to use thinner gaskets on one side, sorry I don't know which gaskets.)
Otherwise, there really hasn't been anything else that hasn't cleared well, except for brake lines, but they can be moved around fairly easily. Another thing to keep in mind, except for the intake plenum, these engines are pretty much identical to all the other late small block 350's with Vortec heads. The knock sensor can be moved if necessary. I don't remember where I read that at, but there is a pretty good message board at www.Sallee-Chevrolet.com for info about the RamJets. And the guys at Sallee (or whatever it is they are called now) are very knowledgeable about GMPP and aftermarket overall, so you can always call them. |

Re: Headers for Ramjet 350
I am running a 350 block with vortec heads in a 71 frame. To my knowledge, the mount and fit of my engine should be identical to the ram jet. After much research and some long tubes that didn't fit, here is what I did.
I got these mid length ceramic coated (in and out) Sanderson headers from Early Classic. Fit and finish are great, and no ground clearance issues for my 4/6 drop. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=203063 |
