What did you get done?

This is the first real weekend I have had off in quit some time. I actually worked on quit a few things this weekend. Most of them truck related, none of the pertaining to a 73-87 though.

Wednesday evening I picked up my new daily driver. My 04 Dodge QC is getting at it's limit in mileage to keep the resale value high, so I am putting it on the market soon.

In the meantime I found a smoking deal on an 06 Silverado crew-cab. It was a demo with a couple thousand miles on it but the saving was huge since I was able to get the GM rebates as well as a discount.

I went Saturday to get a Snug lid installed. The guy gave me the dealership discount on the lid, so I had him install a 2" drop shackle too. On my way home I dropped by my local tire and wheel shop to see what they had in stock. They were low on inventory for my truck so I had them put some chrome GM wheels on for right now.

Today I went to Church, then came home and worked on one of my beach cruiser bikes. I replaced a tube in the rear and detailed the bike from the tires up.

This evening I worked in the yard until the sun started to set, then I took my bike for a ride in the hood....

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done?

I had a pretty bad weekend...

Last night I pulled into a parking lot with my caprice wagon and pulled a little too close to the parking block. It was strategically placed tall enough to allow my core support over it with no problem at all, then not allow it back over. Had I not known the severity I wouldn't have backed up, but the day had already sucked and my temper was not the greatest, so you can guess how that went. Now I get to chase down a new core support because after 3 hours with a chain and come-along, it's still not up to my standards...

On the bright side I suppose, while I'm swapping it I'll be cleaning and repainting all the stuff under the hood that needs it, so it'll be an improvement, not just replacement.

The only really cool thing I did was found a 1:64th scale diecast at Walmart. It was in a pack of 5 cars, 4 of which were totally worthless, however I still couldn't help but drop the 11$ on it to get the ONE car I wanted. I've never found one until now, maybe I'm just coming out from under the rock, or maybe I'll be the envy of a few of you collectors... lol

Re: What did you get done?

Well, I took a second, closer look at the donor truck I'm picking up, and well, I'm picking it up. Mid 80s, blown up 6.2 Diesel, Power windows / locks / steering / brakes, clock-in-cluster, 12 bolt rearend, dual gastanks, long box.

Only $400. What can I say, I'm a lucky punk. I just gotta get a truck/trailor to bring it to the house, Ol' Red doesn't have that kinda pull left in him, at least his bumper-mounted hitchball doesn't

I spent today (Sunday) washing/waxing my beast.

Last time this paint job will receive wax.

Re: What did you get done?

I helped a buddy move a 37 Chev truck project. It was a total basket case. I was pulling my car trailer with my dually. When I got done, I stopped for lunch. Came out and my truck wouldn't start. It kinda acted like a dead battery. It turned over, but really slowly and then would stop. I called my buddy for jump and that didn't help. I ended up changing the starter in the parking lot after I found out that AAA doesn't cover 1 ton dually's pulling car trailers. (ha.) Anyhow, why did this happen?

Re: What did you get done?

I went to a local car show on saturday, it was pretty good about 200 cars.

We spent Sunday at the lake hanging out and retrieving our camping trailer and gear that we left there since last weekend.

I have a '37 Chevy! Mine's a coupe, though.

I spent all day today fighting a new dishwasher. I lost.

I hate plumbing. I'll finish it up tomorrow.

That's funny, cause I thought the alloy wheels were fugly
Bring em down. I plan to put these on my 05 X-cab because it's dark green with a black rack and Tommy gate. These will give it a bit of bling for cheap. The shop that I use has stacks of the alloy wheels. They only had 6 of the chrome wheels. We can make a deal.

Re: What did you get done?

Saturday I went a borrowed a cut off tool to assist in the removal of the body bushings on my Jimmy since I am putting EFI lines on it, plus they are rotted. That evening I changed the oil/filter on my 87 Silverado Daily Driver.
Sunday after engaging in what I thought would be a simple procedure of removing the clothes line pole from the ground, I changed the plugs and wires on the '87.

The clothes line pole was about 12-13 feet long with 6 feet of that in the ground. 6" below the ground some industrial strength concrete was poured 3' feet down and then another 3 feet of pole. It took from 1pm - 6:30 to get it out of the ground. the next one is getting cut off flush with the concrete and burried!

What were you in? I actually had a cop pull me over because he wanted to know what I had in it, then he told me "Y'all have fun tonight." and left.

Re: What did you get done?

I actually got some work done on my truck. I pulled the radio from the 82 and put it in the 87.. i also started on my "other" project, will try to finish that up tonight. Not a whole lot, but a start to a slow process of swapping many parts from the 82 to 87....

Re: What did you get done?

I remember seeing the izuzu running around, and the rod ranger, and the dodge now that I think about it, but that was just driving up and down the road.
