new wheels
I finally decided on a wheel for my 1968 Short bed.
I'm not really into the whole big wheel thing and didn't want to pay the price that goes along with them. So I went with a Eagle Alloy 028 full polished. I think it is a nice wheel that goes well on these trucks. I wanted some sort of 5 star design and didn't want to have to convert from 6 lug to 5 lug so this wheel solved all my problems. Went with a 15 X 8 in the rear with a 275-60-15 and a 15X7 with a 225-70-15 up front. I went with a 70 series up front to keep the tire hieght the same. Both about 28". I am still waiting on the front wheels to come in, been about 2 weeks now. Damn labor dispute in the shipping industry has everything backed up. It always trickles back to the consumer... Anyway I attached a pic, let me know what you guys think. I'll post a pick of the truck when I get the fronts on. Later,

Those look familiar lol. Order extra center caps, the black likes to peel off after a year or 2.

Zkast,
What is under that black sticker on the center cap? I would rather have it not there, but not if it is all jacked up under the sticker. Let me know,

There's a small indention where the sticker goes, maybe 1/32" but basicly its just a black sticker with a clear cap over it. I just havent spent the time to clean it off. Also, be careful on how you clean them. DO NOT use any type of cleaner... soap and water only.
I went through and polished these wheels a few weeks ago and WOW ![]() |

I bought the rears from Discount Tire here in Gilbert. They kinda let me hanging though. They sold me the rears and after I had taken delivery of the rears they told me they "couldn't" get the fronts. What it came down to is that because of the labor dispute over in so cal evrything was backed up supply wise. So they would have had to make a few phone calls and find a pair that were already at a distributor. So... when they say they "couldn't" what they ment was that they "wouldn't" I ended up going to a local family run wheel and tire place in Mesa, AZ (Thrifty tire and wheel). They tracked them down from a distributor in Texas and had them shipped in. I should have them this week. And I will never buy from Discount again!
I think they even sell them through Summit Summit Racing Later, ![]()

I've had these on my truck for about 6 years now. They're American Racing AR234s i believe. 15x8s all around, and I currently have 235-60-15s on the front, and 275-50-15s on the rear. (click on the link in my sig to see them). I can't wait to get rid of them and get some 17" Torque Thrust IIs. Anybody want to buy them up when I decide to get rid of them?

I have those same rims in 15x10. Ditto what Zkast said on the extra caps. I like the look myself. I've been told it's dated but I think it's the coolest look you can get for the money and for the size. Nice choice! Just make sure you use only cleaners recommended by Eagle. I'd even give them a call to make sure you use only what they reccomend. Learned this one the hard way . . .

How much you pay if you don't mind? I've got a set on my 63 suburban that I'm going to sell with tires. Mine are six lug though.

They ran about $85 a wheel brand new. As for where to get new center caps. Any wheel dealer that carries American Eagle should be able to get them for you. Discount, Big O etc.

$85 bucks apiece!!?? Holy wah! I paid just under $160 per wheel when I bought mine!! Wow, I guess those 24+ inch wheels are really driving down the price of 15 inchers.......
Oh well.
