Need some help with wheel/tire size on 2wd

I just bought a 1990 converted 2wd blazer with a 5/6 drop. I need to get new wheels and tires and would like the widest combo I can run without rubbing. I would like at least an 17" or 18" wheel. Any help and pics would be great.

Re: Need some help with wheel/tire size on 2wd

I saw that one for sale, did you get a good deal??
looks wicked BTW.

I have had 9.5" wheels on the back of both my 74 and my 79 without problems. The 9.5" wheel with a 275/50/17 looks good on the back of those...........but a 20x9.5 with a 275/35 looks better.

Re: Need some help with wheel/tire size on 2wd

It was an okay deal. I really like these trucks and it already had the little headlights. Seems to be dropped right. Just got it home and I haven't had much time to poke around. It needs wheels though, I can't do the rallys, no matter what kind they are. I like the 20's but I don't like how they suck up under these trucks like they do. I guess it's because of the late model design. If I go with the 17's, how about the front?

Is the white one bagged? Those look like Z06 wheels. What backspacing for the 20's, just off the shelf stuff?

yeah the white one is bagged, but still has the stock inner fenderwells. they are standard backspacing 4.5" in the front and 5.5" in the rear, I think. I would get a tapemeasure and recheck before you order.

they are Eagle Alloys 221s btw

Thanks for the info, it really helps. I love the 20's, but I would like them to set out a little more.

THAT'S IT! That's the truck I've been looking for. I have an old pic of it and I didn't know who owned it. Thanks.

Alright, don't make me dig up my files of all your cut up trucks...

Talk about a project getting away from you. Yes, that's my 82 Blazer. Those are 18x8 and 20x9.5 on 245/45/18's and 295/40/20's.

David as we discussed in pm's the truck looks great aired out. Unfortunately when aired up to ride height the 18's look too small. I suggest you go with 20's all the way around and work on the correct backspace to make sure they clear properly.

This pic shows the front close to ride height. The rear lowered with a shackle, but was not bagged at this point.

Thats a picture of my 81 Blazer. The wheels are Boss Motorsports 304 Series with 265/35 Tires. The offset is +20 mm. The Truck has 2" lowered front springs only.
