Engine code on my 68......what is it?

I have found the below info from the front # on this block V0607WA. I cleaned the grease from the back casting # and it has this...3914636.

According to my research it is a 307. I wouldnt be so surprised but i know its the original untouched engine and I thought only 283 and 327 had on oil filler tube in the front. This one has that filler tube.

What do yall show the #'s being????
Did they put an oil filler tube on a 307?

V-Flint

07- 7th day
WA-307

Could it have the oil filler tube because this engine has that crazy emmisions/smog pump on it???

Re: Engine code on my 68......what is it?

My book shows several applications for WA, it was installed in 65,66,67 trucks as a 283. also in 68 trucks as a 307 with a manual trans an 2 barl carb. it was also used in 69 as a 350 truck motor and th400. HP was 175 for the first 3. 200 for the 307, and 255 for the 350. I hopr this helps.

If it's original then it's a 307. I didn't think they were installing smog pumps that early though?

Yea....I asked that question when I drug it home and there were several board members that had them or had seen them. I know it came with this truck because it has an emmisions decal on the radiator support about the smog stuff.

That's a 307 2b style air cleaner you have there too.

My 68 327 4b has a ""Crazy" smog pump also. My 327 also has the oil fill tube similar to yours.

From what I've been able to tell, 68 1/2 ton manual transmission trucks had smog pumps.

My original 68 307 (2bbl 3 on the tree) has the front oil filter, no smog pump and the same air cleaner as yours.
