New ride

OK I've had it for a couple months now but here's the story and here's the pics.
My dad had this car for a couple years and built pretty much the most ultimate hotrod he's ever built. Well in the beggining of the year a horrible accident took him away from us. So when we finally figured out my stepmother was going to sell it we decided we would do whatever it took to get it. The car kinda personified my dads life, he's loved cars and hot rods all his life. My stepmother had the car appraised and we held our breath until it came back. $47,000-$51,000, yup we almost choked. I even almost gave up but my wife pushed me to figure out how to get the money. So we did and here it is. It is a monster and a hell of a ball of fun. Makes the kids smile every time. My dad would be happy.

65 chevelle 2dr wagon. Smedding 590 horse 540, tremec 5 speed, baer brakes, tubular a-arms, coil overs, boxed in rear control arms, 3" stainless exhaust, front runner serpentine system, vintage air air conditioning, american racing 18 and 17" rims.

Re: New ride

Very nice, some people just don't get it (my wife )that wagons are neat , especially two doors. I'll bet your dad would be proud that you own it. My dad always liked the 67-72 trucks. I wish he was still around to see my old truck now that it's almost done. Again nice ride.

Re: New ride

I love long-roofs. That is sweet.

I bought a 67 nova wagon for my wife, and she drove it for 2 years as our family car till someone gave us a 97 gas saver. Man I love wagons. Have lots of fun.

Probably the best looking "station wagon" ever made! I even prefer it over Nomads!!

Big Block 5 speed on top of it.

You never regret getting you Dad's ride. My '69 was my Dad's and my step-mother shipped down from Washington to Texas for me when he died a couple years ago.

Re: New ride

hchad18,
Let me first say that you have one AWESOME ride there. Gld to see it didn't go to some stranger who wouldn't appreciate the effort as much.

With that said....I have to ask if the stepmother cut you any slack since it was you DAD after all? Family discount?? Or was this a get-every-penny-I-can since it was is HIS kid wanting the darn thing?

Sorry if that sounds invasive....just curious really. I have seen those types of family orginizations before!

Re: New ride

wandering the same, you say it was an accident so im geussing it wasnt in the will yet.
im just trying to picture this happenning to me and my dads 69 z28(thankfully, i think he updates his well every week)
it would be worth every penny if i had to buy it for what it was worth it is just the fact of someone profiting so much off of something they had no involvement in.

really cool car

Unfortunally we had to pay for it and the only discount is that we paid the lower end of the appraised value. We still talk and are keeping things as good as we can for my dads sake. No will so everything is pretty much under her control. But we have the wagon now and there is a wrongfull death lawsuite that will hopefully take care of our 2nd mortgage on the car. We dont ever regret it, my dad only had this car for maybe three years, but its who he was.
