Front End Clunk

The PO installed Early Classic's 2/4 drop kit with the panhard bar and shocks. (springs only) Whenever I "flex" the suspension driving or lifting I can hear a clunk that sounds like a spring shifting. Maybe he installed them wrong? Or left out a pad or something? I've never installed a kit so I'm not really sure what's involved. I did install new ball joints & tie rods. The control arm bushings were good also. Any ideas?

Re: Front End Clunk

Tighten down everything, including the body mounts and front crossmember bolts. After 30+ years anything could be loose.

Re: Front End Clunk

Try putting more grease in the ball joints, sometimes they will clunk if they don' have enough grease.

Re: Front End Clunk

the lower control arm has a indentation in it for the end coil to seat in, if the coil spring isn't turned right, it will cause a binding nose....a clunk
