drive line length 700r4?

I currently have a two piece driveline and a turbo 350. I have a 700 r4 that I am going to put in the truck (70 short wide) I would like to use a one piece drive line does anyone know what the length of it should be?
thanks Steve

Steve,

If you don't get an answer I will measure mine tomorrow.... 56 inches sticks in my mind but I will have to double check.

Re: drive line length 700r4?

I just finished my 70 short and used a drive shaft out of 90 short. It was 56 1/4 center of cap to center of cap. Thats what I read on here to use but it was too long. The slip yoke was very long so i removed about 1 3/4 inches and its working fine. My motor sits in the forward position like the post i read said it should be but it just didnt fit? Of corse you never no what your getting exactly when you buy from a bone yard. I had to change the rear u-joint one that was 3 1/4 inches one way and 3 3/4 inches the other. The 3 1/4 that fits the diff has smaller caps than the ones in the shaft.

I just did the same thing... you will have to measure from the housing on the rear of the tranny to the universal joint on the rearend. I had to have mine cut down... it was out of an el camino
