Here is a '71 1/2 ton that would get you awesome mpg, someone save it!
I found this beast on ebay the other night............I wish I was closer to it because as they say, I'd raise my hand and not put it down until I hear the word sold. Talk about an awesome engine to put in a pickup!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...QQcmdZViewItem For the record, don't know the seller or anything about it, I'd just like to see the old girl saved............It would definitely be a neat rig to drive daily, that Perk would never let you down! I am excited to see what he gets for it, I might have to sell mine and build another one with a bigger engine

I wish I knew more specs on that motor.I know they ain`t the perkiest things, but mpg would be worth it.Dodge used one in a very few trucks early in the LT diesel game.I wanna say`78.They didn`t sell and were screamin`for a turbo.

I believe your thinking of the Mitsubi*ch'es that dodge ran..........A 354T Perkins would run with a 5.9 12V Cummins IMO, and if you had the money, it would probably outrun it, without all the vibration of the 5.9

They were definately Perkins diesels in those Dodges.By the time a 4wd magazine did a road test on one, they were discontinued. This was early in the game.I really think they shoulda gave it more time.It would have been up against the GM 5.7 and no Ford competition.I`ve seen some Perkins` in marine applications and they are a respectible workhorse.

Ford used Perkins in pickups overseas years ago.

When I was in High School a friend of mines dad stuck a perkins in his 72 ford 1/2 ton. He drove it for about 15 years. It was pretty cool he cut a hole in the hood and ran the exhaust straight up LOL!

Looks like the auction is being propped up. Most of the bidders are -2, 0 and 1 points...that is an indication that the bidding is being shilled.

If I get a chance,I may actually have that magazine in my stash somewhere. You and millions other haven`t heard of them. They sold very few before stopping. It was 10 years or so before the Cummins. To find one would surely be rare,it was the year they came out.I bet the info could be had through Dodge, somehow.
