Cool find! If memory serves me right, the small block 400 was the only one with 3 freeze plugs per side. Thats an easy way to tell.

But that is not a sure fire way. Some had the raised pad for the freeze plugs, and some had nothin... like a smaller small block. However, the block on the sides bulge out on a 400.
