2000 Tahoe Front wheel hub replacement
Well i know that this is a commen Prolem on 4x4's. This tahoe is a 2000 with 115k on it and there was a funny nosie comming from the front end. sounded like a bearing and since it was going in today to get the tranny flushed we figured we could have the dealer check it out. And i was right it was the front drivers side wheel hub. Now they want 582$ to replace the hu. I have done it on a jeep before so i think i would have n problem doing it on the tahoe. Any special tools i would need? A torque wrench, and a hub puler should do right?
Any tips or tricks to doing these?

Re: 2000 Tahoe Front wheel hub replacement
Caliper brackets should be held on with 18mm head bolts. The back of the hub has 3 15mm bolts, and I forget the size of the 4x4 axle nut.
On jackstands it shouldn't take more than an hour or two to get off, hardest part is getting the 3 bolts that hold the hub one off. With air tools and a lift I can do them in around 45 minutes or less.

Re: 2000 Tahoe Front wheel hub replacement
Head bolts? so am i to belive they are regular or are the special? i am not up on my lingo. I was thinking about trying to lossen the 3 bolts while the truck was on the ground so i can really lay into them. i hate working on stands cause i don't truck them. I have the tools i think and i need the hub puller right?
Thanks it is my dads truck so normally don't work on it if you can't tell

Re: 2000 Tahoe Front wheel hub replacement
you won't need a hub puller just a big hammer and a punch, make sure not to damage the axle. When installing it clean the rust and dirt from where the old bearing was and install the bearing by using the 3 bolts on the backside. make sure you route your wiring correctly and that the hub assembly is positioned the way you took the old one out. good luck, it is pretty simple though..
